Through working with Wild Goose Set 1, we'll cultivate our qi field with the support of breath, expansion and relaxation, stillness, and harmonizing movement.

I’ve been studying Wild Goose Qigong with Margit Galanter / the vivid grove for the past 15 years, and find this form to be incredibly supportive in embodying a wider sense of aliveness, interconnectedness, and presence. No experience needed, and you are invited to come as you are.

About the Workshop:
Wild Goose Qigong (Dayan) is a Taoist/Buddhist alchemical movement and life force practice that guides people to experience the inheritance of their self-healing. Wild Goose is both calming and energizing. Through practicing with moving, attending, and breathing, we harmonize the body-being with the dynamic patterns of the environment and cosmos.

Qigong is for everyone; movements can be modified for all body types, the weather and atmosphere of the moment, and people’s lives.

Through qigong exercises, sections from wild goose sets, and qigong meditation, we will focus on support for the pivot of the summer — the solstice. In summer, we can give special attention to nurture our heart-mind, or shen, and explore movement expressions that emerge uniquely from cultivating our heart vibration, supporting our fire meridians, and togetherness. This is how we root in spirit and the evolving collective field.

** Margit is especially excited to share the practice live, this area where shx co-directed at Earthdance 2006-2009, with beloved friend mara!, and support this growing qigong community spot. **

About Margit:
Margit Galanter is a dance poet and cultural instigator who shares through the vivid grove — a live art school for moving, learning, collective liberatory practices, and creative evolution. Through long-term research-creation, collective intercultural gatherings, 1:1 sessions, and practice itself, shx shares a vision of vibrancy for the individual and collective body. margit is currently living on Montauk lands.

Margit’s syncretic movement approach is based on decades of practice in movement/art lineages. A life of study in Taoist Healing Arts/Wild Goose Qigong, Suprapto Suryodarmo’s Amerta Movement, Lisa Nelson’s Tuning Scores, embodied practices, and creative inquiry constitute the trees in the grove; they provide both rooted access to fertile sources and nourish the flowering canopy of art creation. www.vividgrove.org

Location:
Riverside Park is located just behind the Sunderland Public Library. Bathrooms and drinking fountains are available in the library until it closes at 4pm. Bring layers for sun and wind. There are picnic benches and plenty of trees for shade. The park is on the Connecticut River, and lunchtime swimming at the boat launch is possible for those who wish. Sunderland Corner Store and Wild Roots are close by if you need to buy lunch.

In the case of rain, we’ll meet at the Brick House in Turners/Great Falls.

Schedule:
11am-1:30pm Morning Practice
1:30-3pm Lunch Break
3-5pm Afternoon Practice

at dance rave we’ll offer some simple and expansive movement invitations, and just freaking dance to house/electronic music, get into it, get what we need. all proceeds from dance rave go to the sameer project and operation milkweed. masks required.

with eddy we'll embark on a series of playful rituals, embracing the wisdom of the physical, with a soundtrack to guide us through. we will shake, undulate, sway, pulse, slow dance with gravity, invite suspension and release, sparkle awake into a more attentive and available body, slip in and out of our multiple beings, and come as we are.

with mara we’ll rest, play, dream, make creative containers and let them spill over. we’ll work with embodied practices that unfold — breath, sound, touch, writing/drawing, moving without knowing. we’ll fuck around and find out what invites us to be present in the moment as it deepens/dissolves/transforms.

with hana: radial diamond kinetics is an ever-evolving approach (since 2009) to sweating/dancing/working out in connection with others/as a ritual/folk dance. In an rdk session we explore imagination-centering prompts and practices as a way to jostle/expand how we move/feel in/about our bodies and we do a simple dance workout that focuses on strength, coordination, endurance, moving with/through inhibitions, playful drama, and fun. Together, we cultivate a supportive environment for collective alchemy, all to a carefully selected accompaniment of music.

🌿

gentle shoots rise from winter roots, the vital dynamics of spring

🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿

a day for subtle and sensing movements, drawn from qigong, tuning, amerta movement, and the generative access of spring. both in studio and on land, we’ll explore together the pleasure of measure: gentle justice, reciprocity with our relations, and an earth eros rooted in dance with the surroundings, self, the collective, cosmos, and cultural life.

within the day, we will move with a simple elemental practice i learned from Steve Paxton, in honor of his life and his recent passing.

how do these practices offer tools for a nu world, a creative view, and move towards a tender and life-giving dialogue with place?  let’s see what’s possible.

🌿

Organized by hilary and mara, in partnership with Atland, and in conversation with SCDT's Small seeds gathering. We'll have an ample break for rest and lunch, hilary will provide a nourishing meal for those who wish, or BYO.

margit galanter is a dance poet and cultural instigator living on unceded Ohlone land, also known as California - East Bay. margit’s work is offered through the vivid grove — a live art school for moving, learning, creative evolution, and collective liberatory practices. the vivid grove offers a vision of vitality and exuberance – for individuals and for the collective body. margit’s syncretic approach is based on decades of practice in somatic, movement, and art lineages. these include years of study and collaboration with Suprapto Suryodarmo, Dr. Bingkun Hu, Dennis Leri, and Steve Paxton (may they rest in presence), lisa nelson, and so so many others.

margit is quite excited to return to the region and share movement together. locally they co-directed earthdance, co-created seeds festival and the julius ford harriet tubman healthy living experience. more recently at home, they instigated Tuning Culture/ Tuning4Armageddon, a collaborative inquiry that utilizes tuning practices in an inquiry of decolonizing through dance, and Cave Forms/ cave coast collective, explorations in performance, nourishment, fecundity and the environment. All of this is nourished through sharing in context, including long-term creative practice with mara and Hilary, …so the beat goes on…..

portals - dance class - wednesdays in february (+ march 6th:)

Portals: Collective practice for presence that exceeds the container
This class will move between the somatic, improvisational, and generative to find freedom in form, and transformations of form. We’ll massage our nervous systems with the support of breath, sound, and embodied visualization, and juice ourselves up with movement that makes way for unexpected collaborations with ourselves, and with the place and presences around us. Through creative and compositional experiments, we'll tune to a resonant shared field, leaving room for the unknown.

This offering draws from my practice and study with Margit Galanter / Cave Forms, Lisa Nelson / Tuning Scores, Suprapto Suryodarmo / Amerta Movement, Benoît Lachambre, and Wild Goose Qigong.

Wednesdays February 7th-28th + March 6th, 7-8:30pm at Sun Studio in Florence
4-week series: $70-$100 sliding
single class drop-in: $20
