Mara Poliak is a dancer, artist, writer, curator and teacher based in Oakland, California. Mara’s current collaborators include Layton Lachman and Abby Crain, whose immersive futurist performance Swimming Pool premiered in May 2018, with sound by Samuel Hertz, lights by Elizabeth Ardent, and sculpture installation by Lisa Rybovich Crallé. Mara also collaborates with Margit Galanter on her transdisciplinary vivid art practice Cave Forms, and makes campy drag with Chani Bockwinkel. They are a member of SALTA, an Oakland-based collective that hosted a free monthly mobile performance series for four years, and now organizes a yearly residency with a group of interdisciplinary artists at Dos Rios land project in Northern California. Mara teaches dance and visual art to adult artists with developmental disabilities at Creativity Explored, Creative Growth, and NIAD in the Bay Area.
