🌿

gentle shoots rise from winter roots, the vital dynamics of spring

🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿

a day for subtle and sensing movements, drawn from qigong, tuning, amerta movement, and the generative access of spring. both in studio and on land, we’ll explore together the pleasure of measure: gentle justice, reciprocity with our relations, and an earth eros rooted in dance with the surroundings, self, the collective, cosmos, and cultural life.

within the day, we will move with a simple elemental practice i learned from Steve Paxton, in honor of his life and his recent passing.

how do these practices offer tools for a nu world, a creative view, and move towards a tender and life-giving dialogue with place?  let’s see what’s possible.

🌿

Organized by hilary and mara, in partnership with Atland, and in conversation with SCDT's Small seeds gathering. We'll have an ample break for rest and lunch, hilary will provide a nourishing meal for those who wish, or BYO.

margit galanter is a dance poet and cultural instigator living on unceded Ohlone land, also known as California - East Bay. margit’s work is offered through the vivid grove — a live art school for moving, learning, creative evolution, and collective liberatory practices. the vivid grove offers a vision of vitality and exuberance – for individuals and for the collective body. margit’s syncretic approach is based on decades of practice in somatic, movement, and art lineages. these include years of study and collaboration with Suprapto Suryodarmo, Dr. Bingkun Hu, Dennis Leri, and Steve Paxton (may they rest in presence), lisa nelson, and so so many others.

margit is quite excited to return to the region and share movement together. locally they co-directed earthdance, co-created seeds festival and the julius ford harriet tubman healthy living experience. more recently at home, they instigated Tuning Culture/ Tuning4Armageddon, a collaborative inquiry that utilizes tuning practices in an inquiry of decolonizing through dance, and Cave Forms/ cave coast collective, explorations in performance, nourishment, fecundity and the environment. All of this is nourished through sharing in context, including long-term creative practice with mara and Hilary, …so the beat goes on…..
